Does wearing a gay pride flag mean that your gay? I'm asking because I'm straight but I do support gays, bisexuals, lesbians, transgendered and everyone really and I wear a gay pride flag but people think I'm gay. Wearing that flag, does it mean that I'm telling everyone I'm gay without me realizing it or are they just being close stereotypical? |
| First of all I am gay and I don't wear a gay pride flag. If you wear one that is great and awesome. I live in SF, CA I see the big o Gay Flag every day and every night. It means that you support LGBT rights and nothing more. I have other gay friends that were the flag, have it on their vehicles and even on there check books. It is just the ignorance of the people around us. Many people just don't get it. |
Is it OK to burn the Gay Pride flag? It seems ok to burn the American flag as freedom of expression. Does that extend to liberal ideas like gay pride, too? |
| If it belongs to you, sure you can burn it.If it belongs to someone else, leave it alone. |

Do you think that the gay pride flags that is designed after the United States flag is unpatriotic? I saw a flag like this and it really made me mad. Not that I am homophobic or anything, but I think that it is blasphemous to the United States flag. I have gotten upset over other flags that are designed after the American flag but are not the right colors, so I am not bashing homosexuals. |
This flag:
stuorgs.lvc.edu/freedomrings/Grap…
is ok because it doesn't replicate the US Flag.

According to the Flag Code, a flag is a flag or anything "by which the average person seeing the same without deliberation may believe the same to represent the flag."
So, any flag, or interpretation thereof, that appears to resemble the US Flag, must follow the guidelines of the Flag Code.

RadGal. I don't want to rain on your parade, but you fail at reasoning on so many levels. The Hawaii and Ohio state flags do not resemble the US Flag. No one, with basic intelligence, looks at either flag and says, hey!, that's the US Flag. But when you take the US Flag and change the colors, it still resembles the US Flag. And therefore, it must adhere to the Flag code.
"Now I know Radgal is an average person and so am I and we both think that the Ohio state flag resembles the U.S.. flag so by your own words it 's in violation of the flag code."
Sorry, you lose. The Ohio flag does NOT resemble the US Flag. It's not rectangular. It does Not have a rectangular field in the upper left hand corner containing 50 stars. It's obvious you lack the intelligence to comprehend this knowledge.
To answer your question about why no one has cited gays for flag code violations....read.
The United States Flag Code establishes advisory rules for display and care of the flag of the United States. It is Section 1 of Title 4 of the United States Code (4 U.S.C. § 1 et seq). This is a U.S. federal law, but there is no penalty for failure to comply with it and it is not widely enforced — indeed, the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that punitive enforcement would conflict with the First Amendment right to freedom of speech. (A Flag Desecration Amendment has been proposed from time to time and, if ever passed into law, would override Supreme Court rulings on this matter.)
And this is why The American Legion fights every year to get a flag desecration act passed. It passes the House every time, but failed by 1 vote to get 2/3rds majority in the Senate. Why? Because there are enough liberal douches in the government who were brainwashed in colleges instead of spilling their blood so you can have the freedom you enjoy today.

When a gay pride flag is turned on its side which way are the colors read? When a pride flag is turned on its side, starting with the color red, is it read: left to right or right to left? (sorry, I'm creating something and I want to get it right) |
It depends on the country. I think Japanese languages read from right to left (well, that's how mangas work anyway), though most western languages read from left to right, I think :/
I guess you could read it either way. |
What are the colors used in the gay pride flag? I am doing a art project and I need to know the exact name of the colors. Can anyone help me please? |
Originally created with eight colors, pink and turquoise were removed for production purposes and as of 2008, it consists of six colored stripes, which should always be displayed with red on top or to left. Aside from the obvious symbolism of a mixed LGBT community, the colors were designed to symbolize:
red (life),
orange (healing),
yellow (sunlight),
green (nature),
blue (harmony),
and purple/violet (spirit).
The removed colors stood for sex (pink) and art/magic (turquoise). It is most commonly flown with the red stripe on top, as the colours appear in a natural rainbow.

What do the colors of the gay pride flag mean? What do the colors mean? and why do they mean what they mean? |
"The original flag had eight stripes from top to bottom: pink (sexuality), red (life), orange (healing), yellow (sunlight), green (nature), turquoise (magic), indigo/blue (serenity), and violet (spirit). Within a year, the flag had shed two of its stripes—pink and violet. According to Gilbert, they "ran out of pink dye." The violet stripe was later taken out to create an even number of stripes on the flag."
That's what I was taught, but honestly, I doubt anybody has this memorized, and it's only important in a historical context. Don't know what exactly all the colors mean, but I sense it has something to do with early Faerie culture and queer spirituality. Look up Gilbert Baker; he made the flag, and knowing about him might better situate the chosen words. |
Does it matter which way the gay pride flag goes? I usually see it with red on top but lately I've been seeing it with the purple side on top.
Does it mean something different that way? Or does it just not matter? |
Red Orange Yellow Green Blue and Violet
If it is flag shape: Red is at the top the Violet on the bottom.
Triangle: Red on left running to Violet on the right. |
If I change my avatar to the gay pride flag and my name to I love to kiss Obama butt will liberals? actually read my questions before forming a circle jerk and gang reporting me. |
Hilarious. "Gang report me". I experience the same ridiculous behavior from Leftists who just don't like to be presented with thoughts outside of their worldview.
Best of luck, Kiss Obama Butt! |
