What are some atheist role models for teens and young guyren?
I was wondering if there were any guyren's stars, on networks such as Nickelodeon or Disney Channel, who are young atheists. I don't want my guyren following religious celebrities and being negatively influenced by them. They feel enough pressure from our community to be religious and I would like to give them people they could identify with and look up to who are atheists so they do not feel outcasted or alone.

Unfortunately I don't think there are any.
Of course, most programmes try really hard to keep away from religious debates not to influence guyren in any way (or just to avoid dealing with the scorning media).But in these days of controversy, when even grown ups are given a hard time due to their lack of belief I don't see any guyrens networks willing to deal with thousands of psychotic religious housewives' harassments.

I'll be following the answers because the question got me curious, hope a couple of recommendations come along.

In the 90s Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan were both considered good role models for young girls. Britney had a clean cut image and Lindsay was in Disney movies.

Loads of people say they do but I don't think so. People become anorexic not because they want to be like models but because they don't feel like they have any control and what they eat is the only thing they do have to control.

I can understand your concern. It is one thing to idolize a model, another thing to emulate a model. She understands to understand that Sasha is airbrushed and her full-time job is a model - what she eats, how much she exercises and everything that she does is directed by her career. She has access to the best hair and make-up specialists. She can get the best dietary and fitness advice.

It would be nicer if she looked up to an athlete or astronaut or teacher or judge. But we can't always pick, just guide and keep an eye out. If you feel your daughter is going the wrong way - don't hesitate to step in. You are just a caring, great mother.
